Introduction
I am Elijah Reyes and I am a student journalist at the University of Nevada, Reno. I am currently in my junior year of college. Born and raised in Las Vegas I moved to Reno for university to escape the one-hundred degree weather but remain close to home. Originally wanting to be an educator for secondary-education, either in ELA or ELL, I decided on journalism to continue my passions in writing and film.
Aspirations
As a journalist, it is my job to give a voice to the unrepresented and to be an outlet to share the stories of the people we pass by everyday. Everyone has a story and it should be heard. I tell these stories either through articles, reels, and mini documentaries. Currently, I co-run a independent local news-based Instagram account called Channel775 where we deliever news on protests, local happenings and events. Currently, I do hope to work for PBS and KUNR.
Hobbies & Interests
My hobbies and interests revolve around escapism in through stories. Either through films, novels, comics, and video games, I enjoy escaping to another world far different from the real one. I am currently on a grind on old comic books, specifically Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s run of the Amazing Spider-Man.
